Yesterday, Po.et (POE) made an announcement – a pretty big one, but not unheard of in the blockchain market. The team behind this coin, which is based on a decentralized ecosystem where users can solve their digital content attribution, discovery and monetization, is launching an initiative to help new projects that want to launch on top of this network.
It’s called Po.et Development Labs
This is how they describe it in the blog post:
As Po.et continues to evolve, we encourage new projects to build on our platform to further realize its value and expand its already vast ecosystem. In that spirit, we are excited to announce an official development initiative that will enable us to invest in and provide a platform for media companies and creators everywhere to build on the blockchain. Not only will these investments strengthen the Po.et protocol, but they will benefit our tremendous community as well by helping us reach our milestones more quickly and at scale with new and exciting initiatives.
So, in that same vein, this blockchain-based network also made another big announcement yesterday: introducing the first project that will be launched on top of this protocol.
Inkrypt is a worldwide decentralized network that provides a censorship-resistant cure for journalism hosting and delivery – with the aim to make journalistic content permanent and immutable.
The idea is basically that there are oppressive governments around the world that censor information and journalists that don’t go along with their coercive agendas – the types of countries that Donald Trump wishes he were president of.
“We wanted to partner with Po.et because there is a complete alignment in vision,” commented Farhan Javed, one of Inkrypt’s co-founders. “At the core, both of us want to empower content creators and usher in a new media ecosystem dedicated to data integrity, transparency and ownership.”
How are they going to do it? Well it will involve eliminating single points of failure in media hosting via a governance model that is constructed and led by journalists so that digital content can be looked after in an ethical way.
