AirSwap (AST) is part of a new wave of cryptocurrency exchanges that are evolving on a different branch from Coinbase and Binance – decentralized exchanges. A new generation of trading platforms are focusing their energy on providing you with the ability to trade without needing to hold your coins in a centralized fashion. In fact, some cryptocurrency experts claim that decentralized exchanges will be the go-to way of trading digital currencies in the near future.
This particular platform is making a lot of progress, and it’s doing it in a short amount of time.
AirSwap (AST) is a very young decentralized exchange
This cryptocurrency exchange just launched at the end of April:

AirSwap (AST) kicked things off by allowing its users to trade among 24 tokens to start with, including some super popular ones like Basic Attention Token (BAT), EOS (EOS, OmiseGo (OMG) and ICON (ICX). It can be used on any device and embedded on any website.
This is how they describe it in their blog post announcing the official crypto exchange launch:
“AirSwap is a marketplace powered by search. Buyers, sellers, people and programs can connect and trade wallet to wallet using smart contracts. Our design leaves custody, execution, and settlement in the hands of traders, and leaves behind the centralized systems that plague our nascent ecosystem with hacks and theft.”
This crypto exchange keeps on growing
Just within the two weeks since this crypto exchange opened its doors to the public, there has been 26 new options added to the list of tradable tokens. Among those new additions include Gifto (GTO), IOSToken (IOST), VeChain (VET) and Request Network (REQ).
Seems like they are ramping up their token selection at a really quick pace, and a number of new tokens are likely to get added to this exchange in the coming weeks or months.
