Adshares (ADST) is Starting a Blockchain Revolution in Online Advertising. Here’s the ICO.

There is about six days left in the Initial Coin Offering (ICO) of a new cryptocurrency called Adshares (ADST). The token sale ends on January 12. This ICO has been going on for a long time, too –since July 7.

Each unit of ADST is worth 0.000596 ETH. That’s about 60 cents apiece. So far, Adshares has raised 6456.59 ETH during the six-month-long crowd sale. That’s equal to about $6.7 million USD at the time of writing.

That’s a pretty impressive amount earned. Clearly, a lot of crypto investors seem to be into the idea that this new coin is offering.

The idea behind this new blockchain effort is actually pretty interesting, and it has everything to do with the future of online advertising. At least it has to do with how Adshares sees the future of online advertising – with the use of blockchain technology.

Adshares (ADST), with its ICO, wants to fix problems in the digital marketing space

According to the team behind this project, ADST and the platform that supports it will be “the answer to negative trends in digital marketing. According to the organization’s site, there are a couple of these negative trends:

  • There isn’t enough transparency – so intermediaries are charging higher-than-necessary fees.
  • Centralization is increasing, giving more power to big online marketing players – an less to individual advertisers and publishers.

Adshares Network, or AdsharesNet, is a decentralized marketplace for what it calls “programmatic advertising.” It basically allows publishers and advertisers to make deals amongst themselves. There are no intermediaries necessary.

After the token sale ends in six days, it won’t be until next month that the ADST tokens are listed on exchanges. Then, sometime during the first quarter, the group will launch some of its products: adUser, adClassify services and Adshares Adserver beta.

What do you think? Is this a smart way to apply blockchain technology to the digital marketing world?
